The Place of Peace Dharma House is situated in Aberystwyth, a small coastal town in West Wales and is part of The Order of Buddhist Contemplatives.

It serves as a small Buddhist Temple for the local area but its' primary function is as a contemplative retreat house for our broader congregation. We follow the practice of Serene Reflection Meditation as taught by our Order. The Order of Buddhist Contemplatives was founded by Reverend Master Jiyu-Kennett, who was one of the first Western female Zen Masters. The depth and profound nature of her understanding and teaching offer an example that we aspire to follow.

The regular daily activities unfold according to the needs of those present, with the emphasis being on a quiet  contemplative approach where every simple daily activity, be it attending a ceremony, gardening, a formal meditation period or the weekly shopping trip, is done in the same steady way. Each morning, after meditation, we say, "I wish to unfold the Buddha's Teaching", there is only one teaching and that is to live from meditation. External conditions constantly change whilst we remain still and abiding within that inner stability, which is the place of peace.

PRIOR: Reverend Master Myoho Harris
She was ordained by Reverend Master Jiyu-Kennett at Shasta Abbey in 1977 and trained with her in America before returning to Britain where she continued her monastic practice. In 1987 Reverend Master Jiyu-Kennett named her as a Master of the Order and in 2001 she came to Wales and opened The Place of Peace Dharma House.
